It was a little nerve-wracking that Caspian had insisted on watching me shower. It was partially because the shower was too tiny for more than one person. I glided a fresh bar of soap over my skin and occasionally looked up to see his eyes watching my every move with rapt attention. His pupils kept dilating a little too much, going past the point of human. It felt like I was being watched by an alien.

I cleared my throat.

“Does my mom know about you and your dad?” I was only assuming his dad was the same. Caspian’s eyes didn’t bother to unlatch from my hands as I ran slippery, sudsy circles around my stomach.

“No,” he said, distracted.

“How could she not?” I asked, trying not to think too hard about Caspian’s dad, my mom, and tentacle cocks. Caspian’s eyes finally flicked up to me and he looked confused.

“I don’t know how she would. It’s not normal to share what we are with humans.” He was going to make me say it.

“You talked to your dad about me?”

“You’re my mate, so of course I did.” My thoughts went back to the conversation in the caves.

“Your mom was your dad’s mate.”

“Yes.”

“What did you mean in the tunnel, Caspian? About being afraid of yourself.” He didn’t respond as I rinsed the soap off. I turned off the water and slid the shower door open. When I stepped out, Caspian didn’t back up and my wet body pressed to him.

“Cas?” I asked. He looked away and moved past me, going into the shower. He flicked the water on. I towel dried while my eyes dragged over him, then wrapped the towel around myself, tucking it in as best I could. Rivulets of water slid over his hair, pulling it into his face in long sheets that plastered to his jaw.
